BREAKING: OPEC Scribe, Sanusi Barkindo, Is Dead

“He died at about 11pm yesterday, 5th July, 2022,” NNpC GMd, Mele kyari confirms Barkindo’s death in a tweet

 

The Secretary General of Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Dr. Sanusi Barkindo, is dead.

Platforms Africa reports that Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, a Nigeri-State-owned firm Barkindo once led, confirmed this on his verified Twitter handle.

Though Kyari did not give details of Barkindo’s death, he extolled the virtues of the OPEC scribe.

“We lost our esteemed Dr. Muhammed Sanisu Barkindo. He died at about 11pm yesterday, 5th July, 2022. Certainly a great loss to his immediate family, the NNPC, our country Nigeria, the OPEC and the global energy community. Burial arrangements will be announced shortly,” Kyari wrote.

Batkindo has earlier on the same day he died, led global energy leaders to meet the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa.

At the meeting Buhari poured eulogies on the man, describing him as a good ambassador to Nigeria.
